It's getting a bit warmer.....

Hello everyone,

Well here we are as soccer fans, watching our favourite leagues and cup runs as title races get closer and 3 points mean more and more each week. Many of us will watch the relegation battles which rage on in leagues throughout the world, and good luck to you all.

The weather here in Burlington is warming up just enough to tease us, but I have sneaky feeling that old man winter will hit us once more before we trade the indoor shoes for the six studs of spring.

Tha Canadian Shield is in full motion just now, securing our partners and invite list, and if things continue as they have bee so far, 2010 should be a fantastic year for the tournament.

Before I go to far, I wanted to share a brief intro to who we are and what we do.....

ABOUT THE 2010 CANADIAN SHIELD
“There is a reason they call it the beautiful game” The game of soccer has been celebrated throughout the world for hundreds of years. From the beaches of Brazil, to London’s Hackney Marsh, millions of people have played soccer for the sheer love of the game. As the game grew, the world began to realize that soccer wasn’t only about scoring goals, but achieving them; through friendship, teamwork, and respect among all who participated. It is with this belief that The Canadian Shield organizing committee is dedicated to providing players and coaches with the highest level of hospitality, entertainment, and of course…. competition. While soccer of the highest caliber is the highlight of the event, we see The Canadian Shield as an opportunity for teams of varied cultures to come together under the banner of sport to enjoy a truly unique multi-cultural experience. The Canadian Shield is an unparalleled tournament; a fully hosted experience where accommodations, meals, games, and even a trip to Niagara Falls are not only included for your team, but fully arranged by tournament staff. After only its first year, the Canadian Shield has already hosted top teams from Minnesota and Tampa of the U.S. and Agropoli, Rome and Monza of Italy. For 2010 and onward, The Canadian Shield will aspire to draw the best competition available, worldwide.Although this U-17 boys and girls tournament is an invitational event, we invite any team seeking the challenge of playing against the world’s very best to contact us. The Canadian Shield really is ‘the’ soccer experience which participants will carry with them for many years to come.
